A Review of the Challenges of Using Deep Learning Algorithms to Support Decision-Making in Agricultural Activities
Deep Learning has been successfully applied to image recognition, speech recognition,
and natural language processing in recent years. Therefore, there has been an incentive to apply
it in other fields as well. The field of agriculture is one of the most important fields in which the
application of deep learning still needs to be explored, as it has a direct impact on human well-being.
In particular, there is a need to explore how deep learning models can be used as a tool for optimal
planting, land use, yield improvement, production/disease/pest control, and other activities. The
vast amount of data received from sensors in smart farms makes it possible to use deep learning as a
model for decision-making in this field. In agriculture, no two environments are exactly alike, which
makes testing, validating, and successfully implementing such technologies much more complex
than in most other industries. This paper reviews some recent scientific developments in the field of
deep learning that have been applied to agriculture, and highlights some challenges and potential
solutions using deep learning algorithms in agriculture. The results in this paper indicate that by
employing new methods from deep learning, higher performance in terms of accuracy and lower
inference time can be achieved, and the models can be made useful in real-world applications. Finally,
some opportunities for future research in this area are suggested. This work is supported by the R&D Project BioDAgro—Sistema operacional inteligente de

Recriações históricas em Portugal e Espanha. Relevância destes eventos para o turismo
Nowadays, recreations of historical events have become popular
in Portugal and Spain and they are of particular cultural interest. These
events are sponsored by local authorities, and many people take part in
them. They are leisure activities and provide an opportunity for people of
different origins to meet together.
For an evaluation of the recreation of historical events from the point of view
of tourism, we took as a reference the Medieval Market which takes place in
Ávila, Spain, and the Medieval Journey in Terra de Santa Maria da Feira,
Portugal.
This article concerns a project of patrimony cultural animation which took place in 2011-2012 and was called Caspirro - Teatro com História. Having behind the signature of a protocol for collaboration between Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra and the municipality of Penela, that mentioned project has involved the participation of 38 students of the first year of the course of Socialeducational Animation of E.S.E.C. and their teacher. Starting from the relationship established between the teacher and her students and the interaction among those elements and other entities outside the school, it was possible the opening of E.S.E.C. to the community, emphasizing this way that important competence of Higher Education.O presente artigo aborda um projecto de animação cultural do património que teve lugar no ano lectivo de 2011-2012, designado Caspirro - Teatro com História.
The Medieval Fair of Penela created in 1994 is, nowadays, an important event
concerning historical recreations.
Since 2007, the council participates in the organization of this fair, as well as the
Escola Básica Integrada Infante D. Pedro and Associação de Pais e Encarregados de
Educação do Agrupamento de Escolas Infante D. Pedro. Actually this event is one of the
dynamics of tourist promotion of the local authorities, as we point out in this script.
Portugal”.
no centro do país.
The present article is based on a master's thesis entitled “O Pastel e a Confraria da Doçaria
This research aimed to understand the importance of the Confraria da Doçaria Conventual de
Tentúgal in the defense and preservation of the Pastel de Tentúgal. It concluded that its process
of confection, unique in the world, is the great competitive advantage that Tentúgal possesses
and constitutes a tourist attraction of this village situated in the center of Portugal. As a
result of the research, it will be defended in this article the relevance of the “Roda do Turismo
Gastronómico/de Culinária” as well as the creation of the “Itinerários Intermunicipais
Integrados (III’s)” in order to create a dynamic process where food with history can be a tourist
product. Culinary Tourism as a niche of Food Tourism is a recognition that consumers
hope to enjoy a holistic experience that comes simply from the food. Therefore, it will be necessary
for municipalities to provide their tangible and intangible assets and their municipal
services, such as the transportation services, for gastronomic brotherhoods to divulge and offer
their products, and for tourist agents to articulate and organize the itineraries with underlying
demand.

Inseparable from a community’s cultural heritage, gastronomy has revealed itself a tourist
attraction as was evidenced in the thesis that led to this article entitled “Água | Pão | Vinho |
Leitão – 4 Maravilhas da Mesa da Mealhada”. In fact, gastronomical tourism has been the
differentiation lever in tourist offer, contributing to the sustainable development of communities.
The success of integrated initiatives in gastronomical tourism depends on the importance
given to communication strategies as well as on the quality of a product/destination. Despite
several cultural resources and interest points, Mealhada has distinguished itself by its gastronomical
demand. In response to this and in the attempt to preserve relevant gastronomical
values and simultaneously promote significant local cultural values, the autarchy created in
2007 the brand “Água | Pão | Vinho | Leitão – 4 Maravilhas da Mesa da Mealhada”, Using
these brand as a reference, the existing research attempts to contribute to understand some
factors underlying the origin of this tourist brand, and to promote the protection of heritage
values within Mealhada municipality.
O Concelho
